Simtel and PRIME Batteries Technology install a renewable energy storage system at the Prodromu Hermitage on Mount Athos

In an initiative that marks an important step in the transition towards sustainable energy solutions, Simtel and PRIME Batteries Technology have finalized the construction of an energy storage system powered by photovoltaic panels at the Prodromu Hermitage on Mount Athos. The project represents an example of advanced technological collaboration, bringing together the expertise of Simtel’s Romanian engineers and the leading battery innovations of PRIME Batteries Technology, one of Europe’s leading battery manufacturers and the only battery manufacturer in Romania.

Technical details of the project

The system implemented at the Prodromu Hermitage is powered exclusively by solar energy, captured by photovoltaic panels installed near the hermitage. The captured energy is stored in an advanced battery system designed by PRIME Batteries Technology. This system ensures a constant power supply, even during periods when the photovoltaic panels are unable to produce sufficient energy due to adverse weather conditions. The system’s capacity makes it possible to support the energy needs of the hermitage, which until now relied on traditional energy sources. This modern solution not only reduces the dependence on fossil fuels, but also contributes significantly to the protection of the environment, which is particularly important in a protected natural area such as Mount Athos.

Strategic partnership for innovation

Simtel, a Romanian engineering and technology group with extensive experience in renewable energy, has entered into a strategic partnership with PRIME Batteries Technology, known for its innovative energy storage solutions. This collaboration is part of a wider series of initiatives aimed at promoting the use of advanced technologies in the green energy sector. Simtel is already known for the development and implementation of photovoltaic solutions, with an impressive portfolio of projects realized both in Romania and in other European countries, while PRIME Batteries Technology is one of the leading manufacturers of energy storage solutions in the European Union, being a leader in the research and production of high performance batteries.

Long-term impact

The installation of this energy storage system at the Prodromu Hermitage has a significant impact not only for the religious community of Mount Athos, but also for the promotion of green technologies in the region. The project demonstrates the viability of using renewable energy in remote areas where access to conventional electricity grids is limited or even non-existent. This innovative solution can be replicated in other similar locations, helping to increase energy independence and reduce the carbon footprint. The partnership between Simtel and PRIME Batteries Technology also opens new perspectives for the development of even more advanced renewable energy technologies with both national and international applicability. With this ambitious project at the Prodromu Hermitage, Simtel and PRIME Batteries Technology are demonstrating that renewable energy innovation can make a difference in communities facing energy access challenges. At the same time, this collaboration between two leading Romanian companies is an eloquent example of how strategic partnerships can accelerate the transition towards a sustainable future based on clean energy sources and advanced technologies.
