Italian engineers at Energy Dome have reached the large-scale application phase of an innovative technology that promises to redefine energy storage globally. After developing the first CO\u2082-based battery capable of functioning as a large grid power plant, they recently signed a contract to build the first such large-scale power plant in the United States. The CO\u2082 battery proposed by Energy Dome is a closed thermodynamic system based on the unique properties of CO\u2082 gas. Unlike traditional systems, it uses a fixed amount of carbon dioxide that is not released into the atmosphere, operating in a closed loop. The underlying principle is CO\u2082’s ability to be compressed to a liquid state at normal atmospheric temperatures, a key feature that contributes to its energy efficiency.
